Photorejuvenation ~ aka. Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

- Skin imperfections including small facial spider veins, uneven skin tone, or red or brown patches on the face, neck, décolletage, or hands.
- Treatment Plan
Photorejuvenation, or Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), creates an even color and skin tone. By targeting hemoglobin and melanin, IPL removes brown and red spots. Small facial spider veins and flat "age spots" also respond well.- The procedure works best when followed in about a week with microdermabrasion.
- The intense pulsed light emits wavelengths that are absorbed by vascular and pigmented lesions in multiple levels of the skin. When the broad band light is absorbed by melanin (brown spots) and hemoglobin (veins/red spots), the lesions are gently heated and destroyed.
As a photorejuvenation patient, you will experience a slight sensation as the pulses of therapeutic light are passed over your skin. The sensation is very mild and easily tolerated. Topical creams are not required but are available for individuals who wish to numb the skin.- Number of Recommended Treatments
- A series of four treatments is required for optimum results. Treatments are scheduled once a month.
- Permanent or Temporary
- Temporary, but excellent results can be maintained with minimal maintenance visits.
- Duration of Procedure
- The procedure typically takes 25-30 minutes to treat the entire face. Make up may be applied following treatment. Targeting other areas of the body may take less or more time.
- Benefits
- Patients undergoing photorejuvenation can expect visible signs of aging and sun damage to be significantly reduced with an overall improvement in skin texture and tone.
- Time Period to See Results
- Some results are immediate. The vascular and pigmented lesions will be darker in appearance after 5-7 days and will gradually fade, with optimum results achieved over a 4 month period.
- Maintenance treatments are required every 6-12 months to maintain results.
